Description
In 2014, Terra Enllà created the first guided tour of Tortosa focused on the Spanish Civil War, called "The Tortosa of the Civil War". This tour highlights the dramatic events the city experienced during that period, including religious persecution, bombings by Francoist aviation, the presence of war correspondents such as Hemingway, the total evacuation of the city, and Francoist repression.
The tour covers key sites related to the conflict, such as the Cathedral of Santa Maria, several air-raid shelters, and the monument to the Battle of the Ebro, offering a journey through local history.
The itinerary goes beyond the typical tourist guide visit and provides a well-documented and vivid account of the events, supported by images, texts, newspapers from the period, documents, books, and audiovisual material. The tour is led by the two guides of Terra Enllà.
