Description
La Font Nova Recreation Area is located in Montaspre, in the municipal boundary of Alfara de Carles. La Font Nova is an area of cattle watering place and goats are frequent visitors.
It is equipped with stone and wooden benches and tables, next to the fountain and in the shade of the banana trees.
Corrals, farmhouses and margins of dry stone are still preserved and we also find remains of old lime and plaster kilns that remind us of the traditional uses of ancient settlers.
It's from la Font Nova that you will begin three walking itineraries that will take you to enjoy panoramic views of the Ebro valley: La Moleta, La vall de l'Infern and Les Fonts.
How to get there: From Roquetes, take the T-342 road to Alfara de Carles. 1.8 km off Els Reguers, the Xerta-Càlig canal is located, follow to the right along the road parallel to the canal, cross two bridges and turn left on the indicated path to the Aussera-Font Nova Lake and after 3.5 km you get to la Font Nova.
Caution should be taken as it is a cattle grazing for bulls, some of them fierce bulls.
