River and wineyard (Bot and Gandesa)
Typical tour that can be done in 4 hours and that many cyclists in the area usually do on weekends.
The former Tortosa slaughterhouse is the starting and end point of the route and it it about 87 km.
Leave Tortosa and cross the Pont de l’Estat (State Bridge). Head towards.
Quatre Camins and take C-12 road in the direction of Jesús. Continue for about 25 km passing through Jesús, Aldover and Xerta. In the first part there are some short ascents that break the rhythm. After passing the Xerta lock, head towards Prat de Comte and the Bot sierra. The climb is about 16 km and about 450 meters of altitude.
The stretch between Prat de Comte and Bot is known as the road of the mirrors since some curves are so closed that mirrors are placed on them.
Once in Bot, after the descent, we turn right and go towards Gandesa going up gently. Take the road that leads us to Pinell de Brai going down to the river. Turn left searching for Benifallet crossing the Llaguter Bridge over the river.
Pass through Benifallet and head towards Coll de Som. The climb is about some km and about 150 meters of altitude. Stunning views of the Ebro Valley from above. After the descent, go along the road in the direction of Tortosa passing through Tivenys and Bítem. The last stretch before reaching Tortosa – 14 km – is flat.
